Empowering London's Refugee and Migrant community organisations
AET is working in partnership with The Evelyn Oldfield Unit to deliver a Community Empowerment training programme for members of London's refugee and migrant communities. 35 participants from community based organisations will conduct their own research project relating to their own community and then produce and implement an advocacy strategy to advocate for the needs highlighted during their research. The aim is to better equip local organisations to be able to research and represent their own needs, rather than using external consultants. It is a year long course accredited by Open College Network London Region. The course will end in a final presentation event where participants will revel the findings of their research. It will be an open event held during Autumn 2012 which we will advertise nearer the time.
