Radio Listening Groups

Radio Listening Groups

In Southern Sudan AET is working with young people to set up a network of Radio Listening groups. These groups will help young people to make sure that their voices are heard both through radio stations broadcasting to Southern Sudan and to the national, regional and local authorities, as well as to the international community. Over 40 listening groups have been set up and they are already working with broadcasters to make sure that broadcasts meet the real needs of young people.

AET and the BBC World Service Trust are currently working together on a new Radio Project for people who live and work with livestock in Somalia. The BBC World Service will be broadcasting weekly programmes of special interest and benefit to Somali pastoralists and others who work with livestock. AET will set up 700 radio listening groups so that people can listen, learn about and discuss the important issues on animal health and welfare, marketing and advocacy. Over 60,000 people, mainly pastoralists, will benefit from the project during the next three years.
